The aim of the apprentice role is to train in all areas of the finance department to compliment college work, giving a good understanding of an accounts department within a SME. This role has the potential to progress through the AAT levels and beyond for the right candidate. A wide variety of tasks are covered, as set out below
• To attend college/training provider as and when required
• Efficient use of systems including: Outlook, Excel and Work (training will be provided)
Assisting with the day to day processing of the following: –
To learn the processes of the sub-contractor ledger.
To print off daily the bank statements, enter payments and receipts as necessary onto the accounts program and reconcile.
Update the bank graphs daily.
Responsible for collecting the employee’s expenses and updating the business mileage, fuel, time allocation, VAT scale charge spreadsheets and posting journals as necessary – in time for the monthly payroll.
To learn the processes of the purchase ledger.
To learn the invoicing procedures.
To assist with the administration involved including general finance admin.
Working WeekMonday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm
Requirements & Prospects
QualificationsIdeally a minimum 5 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

You will work to achieve the highly recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and receive MAAT (Member of Association of Accounting Technicians) status.
You will be learning about all aspects of Accounting and learning new skills related to how businesses work. On the Apprenticeship there will be a good mixture of hands-on practical work and written work.
