Job Description

Hargreaves & Woods are a very successful and well respected accountancy firm in Chester and they are looking for an accounts apprentice to join their team.

As an apprentice at Hargreaves and Wood we want to develop and give full training to an enthusiastic individual.


Performing general office administration tasks, photocopying, and data entry, typing letters and answering telephone calls, maintaining data lists.
Meeting and greeting clients.
Assisting clients with basic accountancy duties.
Data input using accountancy software.
Preparing client file set ups and maintains records and documentation.
Provide support of other team members by assisting in their roles.


This role requires a 1 day release at our Liverpool City Centre Academy to study towards the Level 3 AAT.

(Full training and support will be provided throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship)

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm 35 hrs pw


Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

A good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) would be beneficial.

Personal Qualities

An enthusiastic person whose chosen career path is to work within a finance department. A professional manner will be needed at all times.

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Accountancy Academy in Liverpool City centre on a day release basis, the remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace.

You will work to achieve the highly recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and receive MAAT (Member of Association of Accounting Technicians) status.

You will be learning about all aspects of Accounting and learning new skills related to how businesses work. On the Apprenticeship there will be a good mixture of hands-on practical work and written work.
