Job Description

Are you interested in developing a career in Accountancy? Abacus are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and forward thinking individual to join their Accounts team whilst working to complete their Apprenticeship. You will be assisting in the daily running of accounts for two companies as well as any admin work as required.

We will offer full training to the right candidate who is willing to learn from the ground up. The role will see you learning and involved in:


  • Book keeping
  • Payroll assistance
  • Excel analysis
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Manage customer account data
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Taking and dealing with customer enquiries
  • Keeping data records

• Sage Accounts

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm


Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

• Maths and arithmetic skills are required.
• Basic computer and Microsoft office skills useful, but not essential.

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Accountancy Academy in Watford on a day release basis, the remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace.

You will work to achieve the highly recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and receive MAAT (Member of Association of Accounting Technicians) status.

You will be learning about all aspects of Accounting and learning new skills related to how businesses work. On the Apprenticeship there will be a good mixture of hands-on practical work and written work.
