Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a friendly, experienced professional business accounts assistant. Based outside of the midlands our busy working environment is looking for the right person to join our established team.

The role will be to assist the business with day to day duties, which include the following:


  • Responsible for the accountancy practice client payroll
  • Dealing with starter checklists, P45, P60 and other relevant HMRC forms
  • Responding to employees on pay related queries and follow specific procedures
  • End to end payroll and year end payroll procedures
  • Auto enrolment administration and processing
  • Preparation of salary, overtime and sickness absence spreadsheets
  • Auto enrolment administration and processing
  • Posting invoices and payments
  • Dealing with sales invoices, income, receipts and payments
  • Preparing reports showing income and payments
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Using computerised accounting systems to maintain records
  • Reconciling statements
  • Chasing customers for payment in line with credit control
  • Liaising with colleagues to support where required
  • Ensuring information is corrected, calculated and entered using the correct software and processes
  • General admin duties, filing of paperwork, post, emails and answering calls

Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Accountancy Academy in Birmingham on a day release basis, the remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace.

You will work to achieve the highly recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and receive MAAT (Member of Association of Accounting Technicians) status.

You will be learning about all aspects of Accounting and learning new skills related to how businesses work. On the Apprenticeship there will be a good mixture of hands-on practical work and written work.
