Job Description

The Admin and Finance Assistant Apprentice role in the academy will be responsible for first line admin support at Kettering Buccleuch Academy. The successful candidate will need to be flexible with regard to the work they are asked to deliver, which will be quite varied. A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn are key to this role

The start date for this role will be January 2017

Full training and support will be given to the successful candidate


  • To carry out general reception duties to include dealing with incoming telephone calls, meeting and greeting parents and visitors to the academy and ensuring information is passed on to the appropriate person
  • Support routine office tasks such as filing, shredding, distributing post etc.
  • To manage the stock of supplies and order as requested
  • Carry out administration duties such as typing (including data input and mail merges)
  • Use school based administration systems e.g. SIMS
  • Process post
  • Carrying out general tasks within the remit of the post
  • Provide a high standard of administrative support


  • To complete/prepare the weekly banking, balancing all monies to paperwork received
  • To use the Schools Cash Office System to record payments received
  • To input all invoices onto the purchase ledger through the accounting system e.g. P.S.F.
  • Looking after supplier statements and dealing with any queries relating to non-payment of invoices

This role is approximately 75% admin and 25% finance based.

Working Week

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm 37.5 hours per week


Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)
