Job Description

To provide first line IT support to the staff and students of Biddenham International School & Sports College & Great Denham Primary School and other trust partners as and when required.

Biddenham International School are offering an opportunity for an Apprentice ICT Technician to come on board at the start of the new academic year. Tasks/Responsibilities include the following:


  • Support the use of IT across two sites dealing with hardware and software support calls and advising staff on associated matters.


  • Managing your tickets on the IT Help Desk, logging and escalating calls and addressing the issues of walk in users.


  • Responding to and resolving help desk calls in a timely manner (remotely or in person).


  • Providing support to the Network Manager and IT Technicians as and when required.


  • Providing efficient and effective management of hardware loans and printer consumable distribution.


  • Assist the department with network management tasks such as Google Apps for Education & Active Directory administration.


  • Ensure that all work is carried out to agreed standards and fully complies with the IT policies of Biddenham School.


  • Provide staff training where relevant and as directed.


  • Uphold and promote the Biddenham ethos.


  • To provide help, as and when required, in ICT & computing lessons with practical demonstrations and configuration of software and/or hardware


  • To ensure the development and progression of equality as guided by Biddenham’s core values. Ensuring the fair and equal treatment of all employees, customers and external agents.


  • To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time commensurate with the responsibility level of this post, including covering for absent staff and assisting during periods of heavy workload.

Working Week

Monday – Friday 8am-4pm 37.5 hours per week


Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

You will need good analytical and problem solving skills in order to provide a high level of support along with your excellent customer service skills. Good presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal) in order to deal with client relationships and other members of staff. You will need the ability to help with non-technical issues such as giving advice. You will need good technical expertise backed up with good grades.

Personal Qualities

You must be a positive, enthusiastic self-starter who is capable of working within a team but also independently. You will also need the confidence and professionalism to communicate with other members of staff.

Future Prospects

There may be a permanent position available for a successful Apprentice depending on the staffing in the department.

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Bedford for up to 12 weeks on a block release basis for structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals. The qualifications consist of:
• Edexcel Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
• L3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
• L3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
• Level 2 Functional Skills English, Maths, ICT (if applicable)
