Job Description

Excellent opportunity for a budding Accountant to join the team at Student Pocket Guide as our Bookkeeping and Finance Apprentice. If you have the desire to become an Accountant with excellent computer skills, please apply

The Role/Key Tasks include:

  • Raising invoices
  • Emailing invoices to customers
  • Entering sales and purchases onto Sage
  • Maintain sales spreadsheet, record targets and monitor sales levels
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Completing quarterly VAT returns, submission to HMRC (cash accounting)
  • Calculation of commission figures ready for monthly payroll prepared by accountant
  • Completing quarterly EC Sales returns
  • Preparing year end accounts for the accountant including deferred income, prepayments, accruals
  • Timely payment of amounts due (VAT, PAYE, Rent etc)
  • Credit Control

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm 37.5 Hrs pw


Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

• Very high / good attention to detail
• Able to communicate well and politely by email

• Excellent computer skills (Excel)

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Accountancy Academy in Norwich on a day release basis, the remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace.

You will work to achieve the highly recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and receive MAAT (Member of Association of Accounting Technicians) status.

You will be learning about all aspects of Accounting and learning new skills related to how businesses work. On the Apprenticeship there will be a good mixture of hands-on practical work and written work.
