Job Description

Are you good with numbers and passionate about starting your career in the finance sector? Then this is the perfect role for you. You will be working with a fantastic employer that is very well known where you would be learning from the best.
Key Responsibilities

 

•           Undertaking a wide range of ad-hoc analysis projects, for example building and maintaining business case spreadsheet models

•           Developing an understanding of basic financial processes and principles

•           Assisting with overhead budget controls – working closely with Operations Finance team to review actual spend v budget

•           Maintaining budget and forecast templates to support the Operations Finance team with short and long term planning

•           Learning to and then assisting with month end closure process – posting journals and reviewing balances with finance and non-finance team

•           Building an understanding of balance sheet controls and learning to maintain accruals and prepayments schedules

•           Developing IT systems skills with a range of software including Microsoft excel, IFS (financial system), Cognos (database) etc.

•           Working on and supporting a number of manufacturing cost improvement and capital expenditure projects within cross functional teams

•           Ambition to grow in the role and progress to a higher level / take on more responsibility.

•           Commit some time to study for accountancy education and qualifications.

Applicants will be invited to a group interview selection day, then successful shortlisted applicants will be asked to a formal interviewing process and then to carry out a presentation.

Training

The newly launched Assistant Accountant apprenticeship programme is accredited by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and combines outstanding classroom training, dedicated workplace mentor ship and on-the-job experience to build the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviours to become a skilled assistant accountant.
The apprenticeship includes:
• AAT L2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping
• SAGE L2 Computerised Accounts
• AAT L3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting AQ 2016
Training and Assessment
• Throughout the first 12 months you will be required to attend the 3aaa Accountancy Academy in Norwich on average 25-30 days (plus exam days).
• You will attend a full week intensive course to prepare you for the AAT Synoptic Assessment (approx. month 12-14)
• Your dedicated Assessor will visit you in the workplace every 8-12 weeks
• You will be invited to 3aaa Masterclasses presented by industry experts to enrich your learning experience.
The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace.
