Job Description

The Finance Assistant will support the wider team to ensure the timely processing and payment of all Central YMCA group expenses including but not limited to purchase ledger invoices, learner’s bursary expenses, petty cash and staff expenses.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Purchase Ledger: Processing of all purchase invoices for the Central YMCA group for payment
  • Staff Expenses: Processing of all staff expenses for the Central YMCA group for payment
  • Credit cards: Checking of the credit card statements for coding and authorisation and reconciling against receipts for posting
  • Statement Reconciliations: Preparation of supplier reconciliations
  • Petty Cash: Tracking multiple petty cash floats around Training centres and reconciling the expenditure forms to the receipts received
  • Queries: First point contact for all purchase ledger related queries

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm


Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents) and AAT level 3

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Accountancy Academy in Watford on a day release basis, the remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace.

You will work to achieve the highly recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and receive MAAT (Member of Association of Accounting Technicians) status.

You will be learning about all aspects of Accounting and learning new skills related to how businesses work. On the Apprenticeship there will be a good mixture of hands-on practical work and written work.
