Job Description

An excellent opportunity to embark on an Apprenticeship working as an ICT Technician within an established Secondary School in the Westbury (Wiltshire) area. You will ideally have previous experience within the IT world, (transport will be a distinct advantage) working as a member of the technical team
Servicing of teaching/ work area

·         Checking and cleaning equipment, undertaking minor repairs and replacement of parts and necessary

·         Liaise with the ICT Service Manager on the repair of equipment

·         Assist in the management of stock control, ICT equipment, consumables and software to ensure new stock is security etched and associated administrative tasks are kept up to date (ie ordering, delivering, maintaining records, providing reports)

·         Undertake such other technical duties within the school as may be required

·         Liaise with other technical staff and with teaching staff as appropriate

·         Support staff and students in the use of our sound and lightening box in the theatre

 

Working Week

Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm

Qualifications

Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

• Maintain appropriate working relationships with staff including confidentiality and flexibility
• To utilise various software programmes (e.g. word processing, databases, spreadsheets, desk top publishing) and hardware equipment

• To be willing to be to be involved in professional development

Training

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Swindon for a day release basis ever week for 46 weeks structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. Assessment of the Competence component (Edexcel) will be carried out in the workplace over the full duration of the program. The assessor will visit the apprentices in the workplace at-least once every 6-8 weeks to gather evidence. Your training will consist of:

• Edexcel BTEC Level 4 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals (QCF).
• City & Guilds Level 4 Diploma for ICT Professional
• Level 2 Functional Skills English, Maths, ICT (if applicable)
