Job Description

Excellent opportunity as an IT Support and Admin apprentice to assist the staff and students across the Academy Trust providing a professional, customer focused service and support based on the front desk.

Your role will be to work with the others in the team to support the staff and students in the everyday use of IT equipment.

Duties would include:

  • Providing 1st line support to customers
  • Solving projector and interactive whiteboard issues
  • Administrative support, including filing, word processing and reprographics work and data input.
  • To liaise with students, families and staff on behalf of CMAT .
  • To carry out cover for telephone, reception and messenger duties.
  • Setting up new machines and swapping faulty laptops
  • Editing user accounts
  • To open, distribute incoming mail, record and send outgoing mail.
  • Receive incoming goods and check against orders as required.
  • To assist with the general administration of work experience, school trips etc.
  • To maintain such records as may be required including admissions, leavers, student records and staff contact and absence records.
  • To assist the arrangement of routine in-school activities such as staff school photographs, student induction and presentation evenings.
  • Collecting money from pupils and parents in line with the schools finance policy.
  • To input data onto computerised financial and information management systems.
  • Installing and configuring software
  • Installing computers in new IT suites
  • Configuring network devices
  • Responding to urgent IT issues around the site
  • Ensuring that systems and software are implemented in line with the Trust’s IT policy

Working Week

Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm 37.5 hrs pw


Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

Good communication, both written and verbal. Problem solving techniques.
Flexible and pro-active attitude towards work.

Personal Qualities

The successful candidate will be technically minded, a problem solver and be able to work independently as well as within a team. They will need to have a firm grasp of the English language.

Future Prospects

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills in a new environment with enterprise level equipment. They will be able to take on further responsibilities as they become more experienced and qualified across the Trust. The position is initially offered as a temporary contract until the apprenticeship course ends. If the successful candidate performs well and develops to a satisfactory standard during this time, the contract may be extended or made permanent.

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Peterborough for up to 8 weeks on a block release basis for structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Trailblazer – Infrastructure Technician. The qualifications consist of:
• Edexcel Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
• L3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
• L3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
• Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if applicable)
• BCS Foundation Certificate in Networking and Architecture Principles (Knowledge Module 1)
• BCS Foundation Certificate in Mobile and Operating Systems (Knowledge Module 2)
• BCS Foundation Certificate in Cloud Services (Knowledge Module 3)
• MTA in Software Development Fundamentals or HTML5 App Development Fundamentals (Knowledge Module 4)
• BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Processes (Knowledge Module 5)
