Job Description

W.E Roberts is offering the exciting opportunity for someone with IT experience or a keen interest and qualifications in IT to join our leading corrugated cardboard manufacturing firm based in Northfleet. The right candidate will be self-motivated with a hands-on approach and will require excellent organisational and communication skills, together.
Duties will include:

•         providing and controlling first line support for our business users, across 3 sites, ensuring an effective and efficient service is provided;

 

•         complete routine systems administration and maintenance tasks;

 

•         working alongside the team on hardware and software, installation and upgrades;

 

•         development and support of internal software packages primarily using Microsoft Access/VBA;

 

•         helping to create how to guides and IT documentation;

 

•         any other duties as required by the role.

 

 

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm

Qualifications

A minimum 5 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

• ICT/Computing qualification to G.C.S.E/A Level (or equivalent) standard is essential;

• educated to G.C.S.E standard in English and Maths Grades B and above

• knowledgeable in Microsoft software packages (MS Access/Excel/SQL especially)

• the ability to analyse, troubleshoot and solve problems;

• strong communication and negotiating skills;

• the ability to stay calm under pressure and work accurately and efficiently under strict deadlines;

• the ability to manage constantly changing demands, with the understanding that this is not always a 9.00 - 5.30 role and that a flexible outlook in terms of hours is needed to be successful in the role;

• a good commercial awareness;

Training

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship (typically 15 months) you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Maidstone for 30 days of training across five months featuring structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship standard – Infrastructure Technician. The qualifications consist of:
• Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if applicable)
• Knowledge Module 1 - Networking and Architecture
• Knowledge Module 2 - Mobile and Operating Systems
• Knowledge Module 3 - Cloud Services
• Knowledge Module 4 - Coding and Logic
• Knowledge Module 5 - Business Processes
• One vendor certification selected based on your job role and individual capabilities (Typically a Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA) certification)
Knowledge Modules are specified by the British Computer Society (BCS)
