Churchfields Surgery and Catshill Village Surgery are looking to recruit their next apprentice, who will operate across the two Surgeries in a professional, confidential and respectable way. The successful apprentice will support the practice in managing the internal and external IT systems, ensuring data is accurately entered and reported.

Main responsibilities include:
– Set up new users and maintain all users according to practice protocol, ensuring they have access to required applications, dealing with any password or login issues
– Ensure templates are up to data and accurately entered within appropriate time frames
– Ensure backups are carried out to a regular schedule and that the backups are restorable
– Load upgrades ensuring they run in accordance to instructions and that all users are aware of any resulting changes or updates
– To administer new “Bluestream” logins to all new staff
– Troubleshoot IT problems and identify solutions. Where appropriate, report IT faults to the appropriate supplier’s helpdesk
– Administration of GP links
– Administration of EPS system
– Ongoing maintenance of Envisage screen
– Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
– Assist in production of protocols to support all data entry and ensure accuracy and compliance with the agreed protocols
– Run contract searches and reports
– Ensure data is consistently entered and run searches to find anomalies
– Ensure all new staff know how to log onto the desktops, that they have access to any applications they require and that they understand the practices protocol on data security
– Ensure the Data Protection Act is followed at all times

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm


Requirements & Prospects


A minimum of 5 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

• Knowledge Module 4 - Coding and Logic
• Knowledge Module 5 - Business Processes
• One vendor certification selected based on your job role and individual capabilities (Typically a Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA) certification)
Knowledge Modules are specified by the British Computer Society (BCS)
