A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an IT Software Apprentice to work with a small IT Services company based in Charminster, Bournemouth. You should be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual that enjoys the more technical aspects of computers/development and looking to further develop technical skills.

Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing eCommerce module installations
  • Performing PHP/HTML/Javascript/eCommerce related development
  • IT Administration tasks
  • Manning office, taking phone calls
  • Tracking installations, projects, orders
  • Collation and testing of technical details from clients

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm

Qualifications

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths and English (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

Some knowledge of the following would be beneficial:

- eCommerce platforms e.g. Magento, Woocommerce, Shopify etc

- HTML/CSS

- Javascript/JQuery

- Web design with responsive frameworks e.g. bootstrap

- FTP, SHH

- Web development using PHP

- Database use of MySQL

- Graphic design

- Mobile application development

- Good knowledge of MS Office e.g. Word, Excel

Future Prospects

Full-time permanent opportunity on successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, as well as the opportunity to progress to a level 4 apprenticeship.

Training

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship (typically 15 months) you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Southampton for 16 days of training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship standard –Software Development Technician. The qualifications consist of:
• Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if applicable)
• Knowledge Module 1 – Software Development Methodologies Part 1 (Introduction)
• Knowledge Module 2 – Programming Part 1 (Introduction)
• Knowledge Module 1 – Software Development Methodologies Part 2 (Plus Exam)
• Knowledge Module 2 – Programming Part 2 (Plus Exam)
Knowledge Modules are specified by the British Computer Society (BCS)
