Job Description

Midshire Business Systems provides document and the latest print solutions to keep pace with the challenges faced by today’s public and private sector organisations. They’re recognised as an award winning supplier and an award winner for the range of products they provide, which includes a diverse range of photocopiers, multi-functional printers, scanning solutions and icloud back-ups. With responsibility for servicing more than 9000 customers nationwide, they now have an opportunity for a high calibre and enthusiastic individual to join their fast paced IT operations Support Team

Main duties will include:

  • Logging and answering calls
  • Ensuring a high level of customer service
  • Providing support and assistance for the installation and configuration of printers and photocopiers, around 20-25 machines per week at customer sites
  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Windows desktops
  • Carrying out day-to-day administration and resolving technical problems as appropriate
  • To escalate calls to other members of the team or third parties to ensure the timely resolution of calls
  • Training customers in using the machines
  • Working as part of a team on customer sites

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm 35 HOURS PER WEEK

Requirements & Prospects

Qualifications

Ideally a minimum 5 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

With a passion for developing their skills in IT Support, you will ideally have some experience/exposure of the following:
• 1st line desktop and network support experience
• In-depth technical knowledge of Microsoft desktop products ( Windows, Office etc )
• Good understanding of infrastructure components ( Microsoft Windows 2003/2008/2012 etc.. Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, networking and backups
• Strong communication skills
• Written, face to face and telephone for manning the helpdesk
• Ideally a driver or having a driving licence or have started lessons

Personal Qualities

• The ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
• Enthusiasm and motivation
• Strong customer service skills
• Good communication and organisation skills
• Hardworking punctual and reliable, a driven but conscientious person
• Presentable as you will be working at customer sites
• A full licence would be a distinct advantage

Training

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Manchester for up to 12 weeks on a block release basis for structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals. The qualifications consist of:
• Edexcel Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
• L3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
• L3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
• Level 2 Functional Skills English, Maths, ICT (if applicable)
