Job Description

Are you seeking a fantastic opportunity to develop your IT networking skills offering hands-on experience with a National? If so, look no further! As an IT support Apprentice opportunity you will build on your existing IT skill

Duties include:

  • Develop the skills to log incoming client calls, and assigning priority
  • Develop the skills to carry out all agreed actions within specified time frame
  • Develop the skills to escalate where necessary, not always to service level agreement
  • Develop the skills to identify re-occurring issues and highlight to the Third Line Support
  • Ability to identify calls that fall outside of the helpdesk scope and highlight to the Helpdesk Supervisor
  • Ability to monitor and respond to additional services in line with agreed guidelines
  • Ability to complete client call backs daily
  • Ability to attend client sites as agreed to increase client knowledge
  • Ability to work as part of a close knit team
  • Ability to build the internal knowledge base by identifying root cause analysis and recurring issue
  • Develop the skills to produce your own monthly performance reports

Working Week

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm


Requirements & Prospects


Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

• Excellent communication skills, wants to develop a career in IT Support and a current clean driving licence and access to car would be beneficial
• Knowledge of: Windows XP; Windows 7; Server 2003, 2008 and 2011; VMWare; Microsoft Exchange; Backup Exec; Networking knowledge
• Someone who is IT passionate
• Friendly and personable with good telephone manner
• You must want to take ownership of clients, calls and relationships
• You must be able to work as part of a team or on your own
• Someone with a common sense and the ability to use it on everyday work
• Customer service experience
• Problem ‘ownership’ to resolution

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Reading for up to 12 weeks on a block release basis for structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals. The qualifications consist of:
• Edexcel Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
• L3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
• L3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
• Level 2 Functional Skills English, Maths, ICT (if applicable)
