Job Description

Fantastic Opportunity in an established school environment where you will be the IT Apprentice. So if you love IT and want to kick start your career look no further

The IT Media Apprentice will be a new post based primarily within Our Lady’s Convent School, working with the central Network Services team and our other Foundation schools.  The successful candidate will be trained to support all IT and audio visual equipment within the school, and will assist teaching and support staff to get the most from our technology infrastructure. Comprehensive training will be provided in conjunction with a day release programme. Depending on the applicant’s level of experience and existing qualifications, this will be provided either by Loughborough College on the Level 3 IT Apprentice Scheme which lasts 2 years, or a one-year Level 4 IT programme with The 3aaa Academy, Leicester.

The role is one of a number of IT apprenticeships within the Loughborough Endowed Schools. The successful candidate will work with a team of qualified IT technicians, and a permanent opportunity may arise following successful completion of an apprenticeship.

The role will be involved in the classroom deployment of iPads and upgrading and supporting of PCs and laptops and other related software. Responsibility will also include the support of printing, audio visual and video equipment used throughout the campus. The post-holder will be mentored by the school Systems Manager and receive technical guidance from other technicians. The post will be a customer facing one, requiring effective communication with colleagues, students and parents.

You will be responsible for:

  • To provide technical support to staff at the School with respect to all IT and audio visual equipment, and associated software, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and stored after and between use.

  • To be responsible for the provision of classroom and event support when requested. This will include open days, assemblies, musical, sporting and drama events, which may take place outside of the school day.

  • To make all appropriate preparations for scheduled activity, such as examinations and commercial bookings, including the preparation and setup of equipment and working with staff to ensure efficient operation and customer service with no disruption to lessons.

  • To log all support and service requests in the Help Desk system, making every effort to resolve and update tickets within the required service levels.

  • To be responsible for the administration of IT accounts and permissions, the processing and edit of web sites and updating content as requested and to maintain documentation, following instruction and best practice.

  • To work closely with the Loughborough Endowed Schools’ central teams, including Network Services, Estates, Commercial Services and Marketing in the delivery of effective IT provision for all aspects of the Foundation’s operations.
