The prospective candidate will be working primarily with a Microsoft based toolset. The platforms in use will range from Access & Excel at the basic end, through to Visual Studio (.net). Cloud development with Azure & SharePoint online will also be included. All areas of program development, including mobile app development, will be considered.

The prospective candidate will be working primarily with a Microsoft based toolset. The platforms in use will range from Access & Excel at the basic end, through to Visual Studio (.net). Cloud development with Azure & SharePoint online will also be included. All areas of program development, including mobile app development, will be considered. A major component of the work will be taking existing ‘legacy’ systems and recoding them to work with the latest platforms. To that end, the candidate should be extremely self-motivated and a keen problem solver. The ability to explore and understand the solution options will be key. The person will need to be well organised have the intellectual capacity to succeed.

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm

Training

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship (typically 15 months) you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Leicester for 16 days of training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship standard –Software Development Technician. The qualifications consist of:
• Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if applicable)
• Knowledge Module 1 – Software Development Methodologies Part 1 (Introduction)
• Knowledge Module 2 – Programming Part 1 (Introduction)
• Knowledge Module 1 – Software Development Methodologies Part 2 (Plus Exam)
• Knowledge Module 2 – Programming Part 2 (Plus Exam)
Knowledge Modules are specified by the British Computer Society (BCS)
