Job Description

As a Technical Administrator your role is essential to keeping our clients’ IT systems running smoothly and efficiently. You will keep a close eye on servers, workstations and PCs, responding to any errors and alerts, and performing essential maintenance tasks to keep clients’ networks running properly.

As a Technical Administrator your role is essential to keeping our clients’ IT systems running smoothly and efficiently.   You will keep a close eye on servers, workstations and PCs, responding to any errors and alerts, and performing essential maintenance tasks to keep clients’ networks running properly.

 

Working with the rest of the technical team, the role will also include basic technical support and project work for customers as the role progresses, leading into a career in technical support.

 

Your daily tasks will include:

-Performing daily checks, monitoring and routine maintenance on customer systems and servers

-Responding to, and resolving, any errors or alerts that are logged in the helpdesk

-Proactively checking and testing server backups and installing essential software patches and updates.
-Preparing and configuring equipment ready for installation onsite
-Keeping on target with the monthly maintenance schedules

-Advising customers of license renewals

 

There will also be opportunities for project delivery as the apprenticeship progresses.

Working Week

Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm

Qualifications

Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

Desired Skills

The successful applicant should be confident with IT, particular Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Previous exposure to Windows servers is a bonus but full training will be given.

Personal Qualities

Excellent customer service skills and an ability to manage own time is essential. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in IT and be driven to develop a career in the IT support sector.

On completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship we aim to retain the candidate for a full time IT Support Technician position

Training

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Bristol for up to 12 weeks on a block release basis for structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals. The qualifications consist of:
• Edexcel Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
• L3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
• L3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
• Level 2 Functional Skills English, Maths, ICT (if applicable)
